And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

I was having a snarky attitude the other day. I didn't want to have to do something for someone else. It wasn't a big thing , I was just being a brat. The Lord, so gentle, prompted me to remember whatever I do for another, I am doing for Him.
Now that changes everything.
Want to serve Jesus? Serve others. Want to find Jesus? Look around you, He is in your fellow believers.
Go and love the Lord wherever you find Him.
28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Be strong in the Lord. Hold fast to the truth and shine in His glory.
1 Timothy 4:16
Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you.
28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
For some reason, when I read the word and the verse about they will know us by our works, I thought hand wringing, sweat jobs. Those are the easier jobs. The harder work is the heart.
It's easier to feed the homeless when the results and gratification come quickly.
But the works of the heart are another story. No one knows when you have bitten your tongue to keep from lashing out in anger. No gratification at that moment and it is usually an ongoing battle.
The Lord looks on the heart.
The world will notice when we walk in humility, and the peace that rests on us because we believe and have given our hearts to the Lord, walking in the fruits of the Spirit.
23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
I love the Lord, praise His Name, and wonder at His glory. I am a Christian, redeemed by His precious blood, and following Him.
Then one of those splinters in my heart gets rubbed the wrong way. Doesn't even take a lot, maybe my father-in-law ate my last custard, maybe my fingers gripped around my stuff too hard and I refused to give. Whatever it is, I forget who I am.
In Christ, I am a new creation.
But when my heart is pricked, I revert all too quickly to the old nature, forgetting who I am.
Basically, you can't hear the word of God and say I Will and not follow through and do what He tells you.
Instead, read the Word, listen to His voice, and say as You Will I do.
