DAY 188

To preach or not to preach - that seems to be the question Christians are tangling with today.

"You can't preach to the people. They don't want to hear preaching." Heard that one before?

Matthew 4:17
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Well, that ought to satisfy the WWJD crowd. (What Would Jesus Do)

Matthew 10:7
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Not just Jesus, but He sent His disciples to go and preach.

Romans 10:15
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

We are to preach the good news. Not damnation, for the world is already aware of that, but preach that God sent His Son that whosoever believes will not perish but have eternal life.

So go, preach the Good News.

Don't buy into the tickled ears group who says we mustn't preach to people.

If we don't tell them the Good News, who will?

  1. Preach it, Sistah!!! People are dying in sin out there. One of the last things Jesus told His disciples was to spread the Good News where they were, throughout the region, and throughout the whole land.

I think it's that the word "preach" has obtained a negative connotation as "preachy." When I hear the word "preach" I can't help but think of preachers yelling from the pulpits to sin no more. It's true, we need to repent of our sins, but too often believers are scared they will offend the sinner. Really? Did Jesus offend anyone who came to speak to Him? Never! Yet, He called them on their sins and told them to "go and sin now more. "Preach" has lost its meaning as a beautiful word about sharing God's grace and Truth, similarly to how "awesome," has been diminished to a randomly used adjective.

Preach the Word of the Lord for it will not come back void. The world needs to hear His glorious Truth. Great post, Patty!

  2. LOLOL Lesson to Chelle:

ALWAYS re-read your post before you hit "send."

Now for those of you who know the Word, you will know that I meant "Jesus said to go and sin NO more." NOT "NOW more."

And, for of you who don't, well now you do! And, probably will never forget it!

Patty, I know you enjoyed this laugh as much as I did. We're talking about preaching to the lost, and I'm trying to get them to sin now more! LOL Sorry about that, folks!

    Sinning NO more,

    ~Chelle

  4. Jesus was offensive. The cross is an offense, the Bible says. And once, He was so offensive, many people got up and left. He didn't say, "Wait, let me explain." He let them go! He turned to His men and said, "So, are you going to leave, too?" They said, "Where could we go? You have the keys to eternal life." Feed the *sheep.* Don't water it down for the seekers and starve the sheep.
